In Japan, dog registration and annual rabies vaccination are still obligatory for dog owners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u3000Even during the rabies epidemic, dog registration was promoted through a financial system of dog taxes and fines. In addition, police officers and others actively registered dogs by conducting door-to-door canvassing and door-to-door registration.
